Zakah

At Planet Mercy, we recognize the significance of Zakah in Islam, as the Quran outlines it as the rightful due of impoverished and destitute Muslims. Since our inception in 2012, we have been committed to accurately assessing and distributing Zakah to those in need. To date, we have successfully allocated over £70,000, making a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals.

Our primary focus has been on providing aid to Asylum Seekers and Refugees who have been forced to flee from their war-torn homelands. We strive to offer them the essential support they need during such difficult times. However, the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to an increase in demand for our services from UK residents facing a variety of economic and personal challenges.

Among our service users, we have observed that a significant proportion – one in four – are single mothers grappling with financial difficulties. Our team at Planet Mercy understands the unique struggles faced by these families and is dedicated to helping them overcome their hardships.

At the core of our mission is a commitment to ensuring our Zakah distribution adheres to the principles of Shariah. To maintain the highest standards of compliance, we seek guidance from qualified Islamic scholars who provide expert oversight on our operations. By doing so, we uphold the sacredness of Zakah while making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
